If you’re looking forward to seeing Charlie Day star in “I Love You, Daddy” alongside Louis C.K., you going to be disappointed. The actor cut ties with the film after sexual misconduct allegations surfaced about the movie’s writer and co-star Louis C.K. Day made his feelings clear in a recent interview with L.A Times.
Strong words from Charlie Day
“I do not condone sexual misconduct and, in light of the allegations, will not be promoting the movie further.”
These words were from actor Charlie Day in a recent interview with L.A Times. The It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star was addressing rumors about his decision to drop out of promoting the movie. He went on to say that he read the story in The New York Times and like everyone else, he was very appalled by C.K’s actions. Charlie Day isn’t the only star who refused to promote CK’s movie, Chloe Grace Moretz also issued a press release denouncing the film.
“I was as appalled as everyone to read the allegations made in the New York Times. I do not condone sexual misconduct and, in light of the allegations, will not be promoting the movie further.”
Charlie Day said in a statement to the L.A. Times.
Controversial movie plot
Truth is, even before the sexual misconduct revelations surfaced, the movie was attracting a lot of controversy over its disturbing plot. In the movie, “I Love You, Daddy,” Louis C.K’s character is a successful television writer whose teenage daughter becomes interested in a 68-year-old filmmaker with a disgusting past. C.K has to figure out a way to deal with this. Charlie Day plays Ralph, CK’s actor cohort, who’s always there with an outrageous sexual remark, a jerking off gesture, or a low observation.
Day’s character tries to persuade CK’s character to confront John Malkovich’s character about his predatory behavior. In one disturbing scene Day’s character mimes masturbating while having a conversation with CK’s character. Wow, talk about life imitating art!

If the film is ever released, it won’t have Charlie Day or Chloe Grace Moretz promoting it. Day formally backed out of promoting the film, citing the allegations against C.K.
Charlie Day goes back to sitcom
As for sitcom star Charlie Day, he will be returning to the set of “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” for the 13th season in late 2018. No word yet on if Dennis (played by Glen Howerton) will return. But earlier this month, Day said that the show wouldn’t be the same without Dennis.
